Talen Energy Selects Accenture to Support Its Transition
Company to Operate All Applications in a Virtual Private Cloud
Allentown PA.; Jan. 5, 2016 – Talen Energy Supply, LLC, an indirect subsidiary of Talen Energy Corporation, has selected Accenture (NYSE: ACN) to provide operations and technology services with an infrastructure-as-a-service model for business applications hosted in a virtual private cloud on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Under the terms of a four-year agreement, Accenture, working with Avanade and the Accenture AWS Business Group, will migrate and deploy various Talen Energy IT assets to a new environment. In addition, Accenture will provide integration services including testing and change management and digital supply chain transformation.
“This is an exciting time for Talen Energy as an independent company, and our agreement with Accenture provides us with rapid access to a wide variety of information technology, operations and business consulting services that can flex with the changing needs of our business,” said James Schinski, Chief Administrative Officer of Talen Energy. “We are looking to realize implementation and operating cost savings and advance Talen Energy as a technology leader as we run all our applications in a secure cloud environment with this first-of-its-kind approach for an independent power producer.”
Earlier this year, Accenture delivered business and IT planning and due diligence services to support the formation of Talen Energy, which became a public company on June 1, 2015. The collaborative work by Accenture and Talen Energy leadership and its staff is fast paced and structured to promote a one-team environment to realize bottom-line improvements.
“Flexibility and teamwork are vital to resolving complex challenges and building mutual performance goals in the hyper-competitive independent power producer market place,” said Casey Wells, senior managing director of Accenture’s Utilities industry practice. “We are privileged that Talen Energy has entrusted us as a team member at this important time in its history.”
Accenture is deploying both program governance and organizational change management capabilities as part of this agreement.
“We look forward to working with Talen Energy and bringing to bear our Cloud First agenda and broad utility industry capabilities in support of the organization as it competes to win in the marketplace,” said Greg Smith, managing director at Accenture and client account lead for Talen Energy.
