Accenture to Deliver Instructor-led Classes for Sun In the United States and Europe

SANTA CLARA, Calif. and NEW YORK; Sept. 12, 2003 Sun Microsystems, Inc. has selected Accenture to deliver instructor-led training on a comprehensive portfolio of Sun technologies to Sun’s customers at specified locations across the United States and Europe. Under this agreement, Accenture will deliver high-quality training developed by Sun on Java(TM) technologies and the Solaris(TM) Operating System in both Sun and authorized Accenture training centers. Accenture will deliver these services through Accenture Learning, its BPO business that provides outsourced learning solutions.

Accenture will begin to provide training in the United States immediately and plans to offer training in 11 countries throughout Europe by the end of calendar year 2003. Sun will retain 11 training centers located around the world, which will focus primarily on internal Sun technical training, instructor development and customer training on advanced courses.

"Sun Services selected Accenture because of its ability to consistently deliver high-quality learning and content to customers in multiple countries around the world," stated Terry Erdle, vice president of Sun Educational Services. "It’s a perfect example of the new Sun Services business paradigm: Sun is leveraging its intellectual property with a world-class company to provide industry-leading learning solutions."

"Sun was looking for a way to rapidly transition and augment its strong training capabilities in a way that created even more value for its customers," said Greg Vestri, a partner in the Accenture Learning business. "By combining Sun’s high-quality IT and business training programs with Accenture’s extensive transformational learning capabilities, we will help enable Sun and its customers to achieve even more measurable business results through breakthrough improvements in workforce performance."

This agreement with Accenture, to provide outsourced learning solutions, marks another milestone in the long-standing Sun and Accenture relationship.
