SFR Selects Accenture to Transform its Information Technology Systems

PARIS; March 17, 2003 SFR, the mobile phone subsidiary of the French leading private telecommunications operator (Groupe Cegetel), and Accenture today announced a more than €100 million agreement to transform the information technology systems of SFR.

Under the terms of the agreement, Accenture will implement new information technology systems, integrate all of SFR’s existing services, hardware and software and enhance the processes that support sales management and billing for SFR’s 13.5 million customers.

SFR is transforming its information technology systems to take advantage of the imminent arrival of Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), further enhance customer care capabilities and help accelerate the deployment of new services.

The improvements are also designed to facilitate collaboration with an increasing number of partners, including value-added services providers and content providers. The new information technology system will also provide clients with online access to an increasing amount of information around services, usage and billing.

“We selected Accenture because of its technological expertise, experience in being able to deliver large-scale projects and their in-depth knowledge of our business,” said Jean-Pascal Aubert, general manager of Cegetel Systèmes d’Information (Cegetel SI). “Our collaboration on this project will help SFR respond even more effectively to subscribers’ demands and be ready to take advantage of third-generation mobile services. Improving customer satisfaction and providing them with multimedia services are key parts of our differentiation strategy.”

“As the mobile telecommunications market becomes more and more competitive, customer loyalty is key,” said Marc Enjolras, an Accenture partner in France and a telecommunications industry expert. “The work with SFR is specifically designed to help increase customer loyalty by enhancing consumer services and providing a more streamlined and efficient billing system.”
