NEW YORK and LONDON; Feb. 14, 2006 – Accenture and Cisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, have successfully delivered a prepaid solution to Orange Switzerland for its OrangeClick service, the first Web-based pre-payment option for wireless subscribers in Switzerland. The solution allows Orange Switzerland to rapidly introduce new services to its customers including, most recently, a Pre-pay Unlimited Short Message Service (SMS) offering.
Launched in January 2005, OrangeClick is a subscription service that allows customers to manage their mobile phone accounts via the Internet. With the Accenture and Cisco solution, OrangeClick customers can choose their personal mobile numbers and order handsets online, as well as activate or deactivate several additional services online, including international, roaming, messaging options and cross-boarder roaming options. In December 2005, Orange launched its Pre-pay Unlimited SMS offering, providing customers with free SMS after 20 initial SMS charged.
Accenture was the lead integrator in implementing the new solution, which allows Orange Switzerland to launch new services and rate plans and to bill and collect revenue for those services easily and quickly, thanks to its flexibility and its integration with a standard rating engine. It also helps enable Orange Switzerland to better support multiple access technologies, such as General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), and multiple mobile services with a single architecture.
The charging solution is based on Cisco’s Content Services Gateway (CSG) technology from the Cisco Mobile Exchange (CMX) framework, a standards-based framework used to link the Radio Access Network (RAN) to the Internet Protocol (IP) network and value-added, content-based IP services. As part of Cisco’s IP Next Generation Network (IP NGN) vision for mobile service providers, this framework identifies users and their locations and delivers services to them anywhere, over any access medium, to any client device. The use of standardized authentication and access control services allows tailoring service offerings to each customer segment.
Accenture has integrated Cisco’s CSG Technology into its Accenture Communications Solutions, a suite of proven ready-to-use components, within a common integration framework, designed to drive high performance for communication service providers.
