Jerry Friedman to Serve as Director of Strategic Human Service Initiatives

RESTON, Va.; Jan. 14, 2010 – Jerry Friedman is joining Accenture’s (NYSE: ACN) human services practice as director of strategic initiatives after serving as the American Public Human Services Association’s (APHSA) executive director since 2001.

Mr. Friedman has more than three decades of experience in human services. Prior to joining APHSA he was executive deputy commissioner of the Texas Department of Human Services. Before that he was assistant secretary of Washington state’s Economic Services Administration in the Department of Social and Health Services. He also previously served as deputy secretary, Office of Income Maintenance, Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare; as director, Office of Children, Youth and Families, Bureau of State Children and Youth Programs, Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare; and as director of Human Services for Dauphin County and Northampton County, Pennsylvania. He began his public service career as a probation and parole officer in Pennsylvania in 1970.

Mr. Friedman holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree from Pennsylvania State University. He currently serves on the board of the Chapin Hall Center for Children at the University of Chicago, the board of the Rural Assistance Center of the University of North Dakota, and is a member of the American Medical Association-sponsored Health Sector Assembly.
