Accenture's Thomas Davenport Named to 'Guru Guide'

Darwin Magazine Selects Those ‘Behind the Ideas that Drive the New Economy’

 

November 21, 2000 - Thomas Davenport, who directs the Institute for Strategic Change, an Accenture think tank in Cambridge, MA., has been named to Darwin Magazine’s Guru Guide. The magazine selected 19 thought leaders who are "behind the ideas that drive the new economy." Accenture is a leading global management and technology consultancy.

The magazine cited Davenport for his expertise in the areas of knowledge management, eCommerce, reengineering and enterprise systems. The magazine calls him "one of the earliest pundits to write and speak about hot IT- oriented topics."

In addition to starting think tanks at two major consulting firms, Davenport is a prolific writer and university lecturer. His upcoming book, The Attention Economy (Harvard Business School Press), co-authored with John Beck, an associate at the Institute for Strategic Change, focuses on the importance of human attention. Davenport calls human attention the most valuable resource in the new economy

A contributor to a number of leading management and business publications, he has also authored Information Ecology: Mastering the Information and Knowledge Environment (Oxford University Press), Mission Critical: Realizing the Promise of Enterprise Systems (Harvard Business School Press), and Working Knowledge (Harvard Business School Press and co-authored with Laurence Prusak) in addition to other books.

Davenport presently teaches management and information technology as a Visiting Professor at Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business and Babson College, where he is a Distinguished Scholar in Residence. He has previously taught at Harvard Business School, the University of Chicago, Boston University and the University of Texas.
