Accenture, Vius Approved for Department of Homeland Security Mentor/Protégé Program

ARLINGTON, Va.; March 7, 2013 – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has approved Accenture Federal Services and Vius LLC for participation in the department’s Mentor/Protégé Program.

The Mentor/Protégé Program encourages private-sector relationships and expands DHS’s efforts to identify and respond to the developmental needs of veteran-owned businesses. The program’s goal is to enhance participants’ ability to compete successfully for federal government contracts.

Vius is a service-disabled, veteran-owned, small business providing information technology professional services consulting. Accenture is a global management consulting and technology services company, with more than 259,000 people serving clients in more than 120 countries.

Mentors provide technical and management assistance, financial assistance in the form of equity investments and/or loans, subcontract support and assistance in performing prime contracts by working through joint-venture arrangements with veteran-owned firms.

Over the past several months, Vius and Accenture have worked together, establishing strategic relationships to help identify solutions for government clients. As part of the DHS mentor/protégé program the two companies will work together to provide best-in-class solutions and services to federal government clients.

“This is an exciting opportunity to develop a strong relationship between the companies that will result in great service to customers. We are looking forward to growing our relationship with Accenture and providing continued superior service to our clients,” said Patrick Kernan, Vius Managing Member:

As a mentor, Accenture will work with Vius on a multi-year development plan to include marketing, prime-contract management and program execution.

“Veterans bring a unique perspective to the work of protecting our country’s citizens, both here and abroad,” said Rocky Thurston, who leads Accenture’s work at DHS. “We look forward to learning from Vius while sharing our experience and understanding of the federal marketplace.”
