Accenture to Restore, Digitize and Archive the Barbara Walters Video Collection for The Paley Center for Media

NEW YORK; June 3, 2010 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) will provide The Paley Center for Media with services to restore, digitize and archive highlights of the video collection of American broadcast journalist Barbara Walters. The announcement was made yesterday at Accenture’s  Women’s Leadership Forum, which was held at The Paley Center for Media in New York and attended by nearly 100 women leaders in the communications, high-tech and media industries.

Selected highlights of the collection will chronicle 30 years of journalistic history, which span Walters’ broadcast career and include exclusive newsreel and related footage from her private collection. Walters’ career includes hosting the television programs Today and The View.  She has also been a host of television news magazine 20/20, co-anchor of the ABC Evening News, and a correspondent on ABC World News.

Origin Digital, an Accenture company, will manage the conversion process and create high-quality master files in the various formats that will be used to showcase the collection to the public.

The Accenture Women’s Leadership Forum examined “Resilience in the Face of Change” and featured Walters’ colleague and Today program host Meredith Vieira. The Forum was broadcast live with the re-broadcast available online using Origin Digital’s adaptive video streaming and player technology. It can be viewed on The Paley Center site, via the Women’s Leadership Forum [www.accenture.com/wlf-live] and also via Origin Digital

“The Paley Center has amassed an impressive collection of television history and we’re delighted to be involved in expanding its digital archives,” said Lynn McMahon, managing director, Communications & High Tech, Accenture. “The addition of the Walters collection, which will utilize the latest in media encoding technology, will provide a welcome resource to her audience. We look forward to working with The Paley Center to preserve and share highlights from one of the world’s most impressive journalists, who paved the way for many women in this field.”

“Ms. Walters’ archives are of tremendous historical value to the scholars, researchers and members of the public who use the Paley Center collection. We’re confident that working with Accenture will ensure that many will enjoy and learn from Barbara Walters’ work for years to come,” said Pat Mitchell, president and CEO, The Paley Center.
