HOUSTON; May 9, 2022 – Energy Risk has named Accenture (NYSE: ACN) the “Technology Advisory Firm of the Year” for excellence in serving clients across global commodity markets. This is the sixth time that Accenture has received this distinction, previously titled “Technology Advisory House of the Year.”
The award recognizes Accenture for its services to clients in commodities trading and risk management business and technology. Accenture provides system assessments, vendor selections, deployments, and upgrades across multiple commodities – including electricity, natural gas, refined products, and environmental products, such as renewable energy credits. This includes integrating and extending traditional energy trading and risk management capabilities to drive additional business insights to capture untapped value.
Accenture also helps companies to develop business use cases deploying technology to manage commercial market risk associated with the energy transition.
“This latest honor is especially meaningful as it recognizes the industry skills and expertise of our people to deliver during a period of extreme market volatility,” said Nickolas Underwood, a senior principal who leads Accenture’s trading and commercial activities within its Utilities business. “Challenges include the global energy transition, which is a highly complex multi-commodity problem to solve, providing us with a unique opportunity to apply our expertise and thought leadership to make a difference.”
“Indeed, trading and risk management capabilities are a key imperative for our energy clients,” added Muqsit Ashraf, a senior managing director who leads Accenture’s Energy business. “We are honored to have been recognized for helping our clients build differentiated capabilities in these domains.”
Scott Tinkler, a managing director who leads Accenture’s Utilities business, noted, “New opportunities for utilities companies to expand their capabilities to maximize revenue opportunities and manage risk continue to grow. For example, some of the work recognized by this award includes helping our clients strengthen and diversify their renewable energy-based asset portfolios.”
Accenture also received the “Technology House of the Year” award in 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016. Structure Group, which Accenture acquired in 2015, received it in 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012 and 2010.
