Accenture Named Among Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2013

TORONTO; April 22, 2013 – Accenture (NYSE:ACN) has been named among Canada’s Greenest Employers, an annual competition to recognize Canadian employers that lead the nation in creating a culture of environmental awareness.

Accenture was recognized for having exceptional earth-friendly initiatives, and for attracting employees who value environmental leadership. The publication of standings, now in its sixth year, appears today in The Globe and Mail, and detailed reasons for selection are published on the job search website, Eluta.ca. Earlier this year, Accenture was also listed among Canada’s Top 100 Employers and Canada’s Best Diversity Employers.

“At Accenture, our environmental vision is directly aligned with our core value of stewardship, and we view sustainable growth to be a key success factor for high-performance businesses,” said Michael Denham, president and country managing director at Accenture in Canada. “Our environmental efforts span our entire operations from how we run our business to the services we provide our clients and how we engage with employees and suppliers.”

“We promote environmentally friendly practices in our workplaces and surrounding communities, with employee programs, responsible procurement practices, stewardship and corporate citizenship programs,” said Karen Pelletier, director, Geographic Services and Workplace Solutions, for Accenture in Canada. “As part of our commitment to lower our carbon footprint, we adopt green building techniques and measures to improve employee behaviors, and we consistently monitor and modify our business operations to reduce waste.”

Globally, Accenture is consistently recognized as an environmental employer of choice, including the Dow Jones Sustainability North American Index since 2005. Several of Accenture’s leading environmental initiatives and recognitions include:

  • Accenture was included on the Carbon Disclosure Projects’ 2012 Global 500 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI), representing the top 10 percent of companies, and was named as a leader in the Information Technology sector.
  • Our Smart Work program promotes eco-efficiency by encouraging eligible employees to work one or more weeks per month from their local or home office, and to connect with colleagues and clients through web conferencing or Telepresence video conferencing.
