"Life science manufacturing and supply chain networks are becoming more complex and global in nature,” noted Michael Townsend, research manager for IDC Health Insights. “Leading companies like Accenture are embracing digital transformation efforts within these areas, which can provide visibility and harmonization to stakeholders such as manufacturers, distributors, dispensers, contract manufacturing organizations, sales organizations, researchers, doctors, patients, and payers using a wide variety of digital technologies — including cloud computing, mobile technology, and social media and analytics — and leveraging a host of internal and external data sources.”
Relative to other vendors discussed in the study and based on feedback from multiple customer references, Accenture was rated highly for its technical capabilities and overall value of engagement in the area of digital transformation in the manufacturing and supply chain.
“Our positioning as a worldwide leader of digital transformation in life sciences manufacturing and supply chain confirms how we help life sciences companies become more digitally enabled as the need to connect manufacturing and supply chain in real time becomes the expected,” said Brad Pawlowski, managing director supply chain, Accenture Life Sciences. “We continue to invest in building digital competencies that we leverage in areas such as cloud computing, mobility, big data, and analytics for life sciences operations to improve patient outcomes.”
In July 2017, Accenture was also named a Leader in the “IDC MarketScape Worldwide Life Science Sales and Marketing Digital Transformation Vendor Assessment” (doc #US40510716, July 2016).
