Accenture Launches Innovation Centre for Oracle in Europe to Bring Clients Closer to Latest Oracle Technology and Application Integration Solutions

LONDON; Jan. 10, 2008 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has opened an Innovation Centre at Oracle’s U.K. headquarters in Reading to accelerate the development, delivery and commercialization of innovative business solutions based on Oracle technology.

The Accenture Innovation Centre for Oracle will be a European hub for joint business development, producing and developing Oracle applications and technology initiatives and offerings to help creatively solve business issues facing joint customers. Accenture is the first systems integration and technology consulting company to open this type of facility on an Oracle campus in Europe. At the Centre, Oracle-based applications will be demonstrated to clients to show what the technology is capable of delivering.

The new Innovation Centre provides joint support for Accenture-Oracle client projects across Europe, helping to ensure they get the highest level of support from initial stages through to implementation. Staff will work closely with professionals at the other Accenture Innovation Centre for Oracle — at Oracle’s global headquarters in Redwood Shores, Calif., in the United States.

The Innovation Centres for Oracle are part of Accenture’s three-year, US$450 million investment in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), announced in July 2006, and part of the company’s ongoing effort to help its corporate and public service clients realize value from business solutions based on Oracle technology.

This latest Innovation Centre will encourage closer collaboration between Accenture and Oracle executive leadership, technologists and product development personnel in Europe. It gives Accenture unique access to Oracle’s research and development organizations, provides Accenture with pre-release experience with new Oracle software, and helps Accenture accelerate training on Oracle technologies across its operations in Europe, while offering clients a single location to view the latest joint technology developments.

“The new Accenture European Innovation Centre for Oracle, which builds on the long-standing relationship between our two companies, is an important step forward in our ongoing efforts to help clients derive maximum business value from their investments in Oracle technologies,” said David Burns, head of Accenture’s Oracle practice in Europe.

Solutions developed in the Innovation Centres are often shaped into key Accenture tools, such as Accenture’s SOA Reference Architecture. Built on the OracleÒ Fusion Middleware platform, the Reference Architecture is a part of Accenture’s core delivery architecture model and contains best practices for implementing, designing and building the platform.

The new Innovation Centre showcases the leading joint Oracle and Accenture technology solutions and processes, including Oracle Fusion Middleware. By building fully functioning applications and client-specific proof of concepts using Accenture’s system integration and technology expertise, the Centre ‘brings Oracle technology to life’ by demonstrating what new Oracle-based technology can deliver. This provides businesses with insight into Oracle’s next-generation platform software and applications.

“Oracle sees service oriented architectures as key to the development of modern, effective and flexible software,” said Andrew Sutherland, vice president, Technology, Oracle EMEA. “The launch of the Innovation Centre reaffirms Oracle and Accenture’s commitment to significant assistance for our joint customers towards functional and scalable SOA environments. Oracle Fusion Middleware is an essential part of our SOA capabilities; Accenture is a highly experienced Oracle Fusion Middleware partner and has a proven track record in successfully delivering Oracle-based IT infrastructures. The new facility is a great enhancement of the work we do together and will significantly benefit our customers in the EMEA region.”

The Accenture relationship with Oracle has already delivered significant benefits for clients. Turkcell, a leading mobile phone operator in Turkey, worked with Accenture to create a delivery platform architecture, using Oracle Fusion Middleware, in order for Turkcell to rapidly bring new services to market. Within twelve months of the project being completed, over 50 application service providers and 53 content providers have offered over 180 services through the new architecture. The result is a platform that enables the telecommunications operator to offer market-relevant high margin services faster than the competition, giving its customers a differentiated online experience.

The combination of Accenture’s Innovation Centres for Oracle, together with the Accenture Centre of Excellence for Oracle in Bangalore, India, should enable Accenture and Oracle to develop a portfolio of assets that will lead to the rapid delivery of cost-effective business solutions throughout the world. The Centre will also showcase other Oracle-related assets from Centres of Excellence across Europe. Examples include the Accenture Communications Solutions from Italy, Supply Chain solutions from Spain and a Waste Management solution from The Netherlands.

Accenture, which has worked with Oracle for more than 16 years, has one of the largest and fastest-growing Oracle enterprise solutions practice among full-service integrators.
