Accenture Launches Future Technology Leaders Initiative to Advance Stem Education

Company teams with more than 35 universities in 20 countries

NEW YORK; January 24, 2014 – Accenture today launched its Future Technology Leaders initiative, a global effort to support undergraduate interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers and increase both the number of students with STEM degrees and their employability.

This year, Accenture is teaming with more than 35 universities in 20 countries on the program. Participating students will receive mentoring and career guidance from Accenture leadership and become part of a global networking group. Additionally, Future Technology Leaders will help students sharpen their professional development skills, advance their understanding of established and emerging technologies – including mobile, social, intelligent marketing and big data – and apply for internships with Accenture.

“The demand for STEM talent is rapidly increasing around the world, and Future Technology Leaders will help meet that need,” said John Campagnino, managing director – Global Talent Acquisition, Accenture. “Teaming with universities around the world to support STEM education and workforce development will help students with an interest in STEM to thrive, increase their career potential and more successfully compete in the job market.”

Accenture and its partner universities are currently finalizing the selection of this year’s applicants. This year, participating schools range from the University of Newcastle (UK) to the University of Maryland (US) and the University of Indonesia.

Students in a STEM curriculum at a participating school will be eligible for the program in their first or second year of university, depending on location, and remain enrolled through graduation. Accenture plans to expand the program over time to include additional schools in more countries.
