Company increasing IT professionals to 500 by 2018 will benefit Valparaíso region
VALPARAÍSO, CHILE; August 12, 2015 – Accenture and Corporación de Fomento de la Producción (Corfo) have underscored their commitment to technology development in the Valparaíso region by signing a four-year agreement through which the global professional services company will triple its IT workforce at the Curauma center to 500 people by 2018.
By signing this partnership of collaboration and investment, Corfo’s Executive Vice President, Eduardo Bitran, and Accenture in Chile’s Country Managing Director, Rodrigo González, stated their commitment to drive Valparaíso as a business hub for information technology.
“This agreement is part of Corfo’s mission to improve competitiveness and productive diversification in the country by fostering investment, innovation and entrepreneurship, while also reinforcing human capital and technology capabilities to achieve sustainable and territorially balanced development,” said Bitran.
“In 2000, Accenture started its operations in Chile, and we continue growing by contributing to the country’s decentralization strategy by helping to grow the regions,” said González. “Our company is investing globally US$787 million in training and people development, which includes developing our people in Chile.”
The agreement includes hiring and training 350 technology professionals who will provide services from Valparaíso, in addition to 170 already trained and located there in the last five years. Accenture will leverage its relationship with regional universities participating in Corfo’s Nueva Ingeniería (New Engineering) program to transfer IT knowledge trough conferences, seminars and training sessions on specific information technology topics.
