Accenture Federal Services Hires Veteran Defense Industry Executive George Batsakis to Lead Its Defense and Intelligence Practice

ARLINGTON, Va.; July 12, 2018 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) today announced that George Batsakis, a defense industry leader, has joined Accenture Federal Services to head its defense and intelligence practice.

In his new role, Batsakis will be responsible for developing and delivering innovative solutions for the Department of Defense, the intelligence community, military health providers, the Department of Veterans Affairs and other U.S. federal clients.

Batsakis brings more than 25 years of experience in government-related systems development and lifecycle management to his new role. Through his career, he has led the implementation of large-scale information technology programs and managed diverse defense and national security project portfolios, which guide his understanding of the mission-critical needs for defense and intelligence clients.

“We welcome George to the Accenture Federal Services defense team, where his significant experience will help us accelerate projects for the Department of Defense and other clients across the federal government,” said John Goodman, chief executive of Accenture Federal Services. “As the DoD prepares to modernize its IT systems and rapidly deploy innovative solutions that reduce costs and increase efficiency, George’s expertise will help our clients find the right solutions for their most complex challenges and meet the needs of servicemembers, veterans and their families.”

Batsakis joins Accenture Federal Services from CSRA, where he was an executive vice president. He spent more than seven years at CSRA, including serving as chief growth officer, before its acquisition by General Dynamics earlier this year. During this time, he led work in next-generation technology practice areas, shared-service delivery platforms, digital consulting practices and cross-sector teams to drive growth strategy and business development initiatives.

Earlier in his career, Batsakis was the executive vice president for SRA’s National Security Group, responsible for new business acquisition and contract execution for defense, intelligence, homeland security and law enforcement. He also led a defense operating unit at Northrop Grumman. Batsakis began his career as a U.S. Army infantry officer and held various command and staff positions in the U.S. Army National Guard.

“I’m excited to join the Accenture Federal Services team, as throughout my career I’ve learned the value of bringing together diverse and innovative teams to develop and implement new analytic and operational approaches to solve clients’ toughest problems,” Batsakis said. “I look forward to continuing the work to help the government take advantage of new technologies and services that secure vital military and intelligence networks and IT infrastructure, transform capabilities, and drive short- and long-term operational improvements.”

Batsakis holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and government from Hillsdale College in Michigan and a master’s degree in business from John’s Hopkins University, with specialization in operations research and systems analysis.
