Accenture Creates £75,000 Fund to Help Nonprofit Groups in Scotland Increase

Skill Building Programs

The Prince’s Trust, Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust and Oxfam to receive funding as part of Skills to Succeed initiative

Edinburgh, 31 October, 2011 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) today announced creating a £75,000 fund to support its Skills to Succeed initiatives in Scotland. Monies will be given to three not-for-profit organizations – The Prince’s Trust, Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) and Oxfam – to support initiatives aimed at re-skilling unemployed or socially disadvantaged individuals so they can enter the workforce.

Accenture’s Skills to Succeed initiative aims to equip 250,000 people around the world by 2015 with the skills to get a job or build a business. The new funding will directly benefit almost 200 young people in Scotland through programmes focused on developing practical job and business skills.

As part of the Prince’s Trust’s ‘Get Into’ programme, 15 young people, aged 16 to 25, will get classroom instruction and work-based learning experiences in industries such as catering, retail, and car mechanics.

Through Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust, 60 young people will have financial and in-kind help from Accenture and employee volunteers to research and develop business ideas.

Through Oxfam’s Aspen Reforestation Project in East Renfrewshire, 115 young people, either not in education or at risk of leaving school or college, will receive training in job skills related to environmental management and forestry.

Bill McDonald, managing director of Accenture Scotland said, “Accenture wants to contribute to the regeneration and growth of our communities and the overall economy. As part of our Skills to Succeed commitment we are focused on investing in and collaborating with charities which share our skill–building goals. Together we can make a difference in people’s lives by equipping them with the skills, confidence and training they need to get a job or build a business.”
