Live free online broadcast brings together global leaders in sustainability

LONDON; May 13, 2013 – As part of its program to help businesses and policy makers address the challenge of scaling investments in sustainability, Accenture (NYSE: ACN) is to host Sustainability 24, a free, interactive global online broadcast on May 15th that brings together some of the world’s leaders and experts in sustainability and resource efficiency.

Speakers at Sustainability 24 include leaders at Akzo-Nobel, AngloGold Ashanti, Coca-Cola, H&M, L’Oréal, Marks & Spencer, Michelin Global Solutions, RWE, Siemens and Standard Bank. Other participants include the CEOs of Nethope, the Carbon Disclosure Project, Singapore’s National Environment Agency and the World Wildlife Fund South Africa, as well as the Director General of the China Center for Urban Development.

The event will stream live debates from eleven cities around the world to an online audience, which will be able to pose questions directly to the guest speakers. Beginning in Beijing and ending in San Francisco, Sustainability 24 will focus on innovative solutions that help organizations embrace sustainability in ways that create new commercial opportunities, reduce costs and differentiate themselves. It will include a series of Sustainability Innovation Workshops at which clients will tackle practical challenges of implementing and scaling initiatives.

“While it is clear that many businesses and public bodies understand the need to invest in sustainable initiatives, many struggle to scale from initial projects or to secure a return on their investment,” said Bruno Berthon, managing director, Accenture Strategy Sustainability Services. “Sustainability 24 tackles those challenges in public debates and showcases best practice from locations and leaders across the world. By bringing this community together, we are able to help each other use innovation to bring commercial and public value from investments in sustainability.”

Among the topics covered will be China’s transition to a new resource economy, best practices in energy efficiency, delivering sustainable energy in emerging markets, exploiting data and analytics to enable sustainable cities, and scaling consumer adoption of sustainable goods and services.
