Accenture Assists Shanghai East Hospital Implement Resource Planning System

SHANGHAI; Feb. 4, 2013 – Accenture (NYSE:ACN) has helped Shanghai East Hospital complete the implementation of a Hospital Resource Planning (HRP) system designed to optimize the hospital’s business processes and enhance its operating efficiency.

Under the management consulting agreement, Accenture supported the introduction of the system that covers a variety of business functions, including logistics management, materials management, cost accounting and budget management. Among the new capabilities, the system provides closed-loop materials management and full-cost financial accounting, intended to help the hospital achieve greater efficiency and lower costs.

“We are very pleased to work with Accenture and are more than satisfied with the outcome of our long-term cooperation,” said Liu Zhongmin, director of Shanghai East Hospital. “With nearly 40 years of global industry experience and best practices, Accenture has played an important role in helping the hospital put business innovation to its best use in order to improve service quality through IT capacity building.”

Previously, Accenture helped the hospital design a roadmap for building its IT infrastructure and introduced the hospital to the leading analysis and assessment model established by the U.S. Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

“Shanghai East Hospital is a top general hospital in China and a driver of innovation within the global healthcare sector,” said Bo Wang, who leads Accenture’s Health & Public Service business in Greater China. “We are honored to be leveraging our deep industry knowledge and project management skills to help Shanghai East Hospital achieve more efficient business operations as it strives to build a leading, intelligent and digital hospital.”
