Accenture and Womenfuture Together Again for Third Annual Global Meeting of International Leaders

MainEvent2002 Explores Leadership Skills Driving Women’s Impact on Business

NEW YORK; April 9, 2002 Continuing their commitment to strengthen women’s leadership in business, Accenture and Womenfuture today announced that they are working together to produce MainEvent2002, the third annual global gathering of businesswomen, to be held on April 11, 2002 in New York. Womenfuture’s MainEvent 2002 is a unique one-day gathering of leaders, brought together to discuss the leadership skills that drive women’s growing impact on the corporate community. Accenture, the world’s leading management and technology services organization, is the global sponsor of the event.

For the first time in the event’s history, MainEvent2002 will be available through a live, interactive web cast. It will also be telecast from the CBS Studios in New York City to corporate headquarters, university auditoriums and hundreds of other locations across North and South America, Europe and Asia.

"Accenture’s continuing support of this event reflects our commitment to being a leader in developing a workplace environment that creates a culture of success for everyone,” said Gill Rider, chief leadership officer at Accenture. “While we encourage women’s growth in the workplace through our Great Place to Work initiative, organizations like Womenfuture facilitate the ongoing dialogue on this important issue, which remains a top priority on the senior executive agenda.”

Ms. Rider will participate in a panel discussion titled, “Not Your Father’s Workplace: How to Create – and Find – a Corporate Culture Where People Want to Work.” Other Accenture speakers will participate in panel discussions at other MainEvent2002 locations in the United States, the United Kingdom and France. Over 1,100 Accenture employees will participate via satellite and web cast in such cities as: Paris, London, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Toronto, Houston, Minneapolis, San Francisco, Columbus, Vancouver, and Washington, D.C. At a later date, there will also be a replay for offices in other time zones.

Keynote speakers, including some of the most prominent women in business from Fortune 500 companies, will also discuss the keys to attracting and retaining employees at a time of significant turnover, the leadership qualities that are crucial for success, and the influences of gender differences on the leadership styles of men and women. Some of the other featured speakers for MainEvent 2002 include the following: Charlene Barshefsky, senior international partner, Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering and former U.S. Trade Representative; Maureen Bunyon, anchor, WJLA-ABC Channel 7, in Washington D.C.; David Gergen, professor of public service at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and a former White House advisor; Sung Joo Kim, chief executive officer of Sung Joo Kim International; Debra L.
