Accenture and Vignette Form Strategic Alliance to Help Clients Build Successful Customer Focused Internet Businesses

Phoenix, AZ, April 10, 2000 - Accenture, a leading global management and technology consulting firm, and Vignette Corporation (Nasdaq:VIGN), the leading supplier of eBusiness applications for building businesses online, today announced a long-term global strategic alliance designed to help clients build successful online businesses that are responsive to customer requirements.

Through the alliance, Accenture and Vignette expect to develop and jointly market services and solutions that will allow clients to more effectively interface with their customers and integrate their online and off-line businesses. The alliance will support Fortune 500 and "dot com" companies in their quest to achieve market leadership -providing services designed to align their on-line business with overall corporate strategies, and creating technical solutions which are flexible and scalable to meet the changing needs of new, on-line businesses and processes.

"The advent of eCommerce and a strong economy have spawned a dramatic shift in power from sellers to customers. Today, customers are dictating not only what they will buy, but how, when and where they will buy goods and services. We believe that the most competitive companies in the eEconomy will be those that not only understand their customers’ needs and expectations, but also align their entire organizations to deliver consistently differentiated and personalized customer experiences at all points of interaction," said Dale Renner, managing partner of Accenture’s Customer Relationship Management business. "Our alliance with Vignette will provide clients with capabilities critical to forging long-term, profitable relationships with their customers, and to reaping greater rewards from their online business investments."

The Accenture and Vignette alliance combines highly skilled customer relationship management consulting expertise with the leading eBusiness application software platform. Areas of focus will include solutions that: facilitate customer attraction and retention; manage information to the customers’ benefit; increase customer expenditures: and enhance company revenues, profits and overall customer satisfaction. As part of the alliance, the Vignette eBusiness platform and applications will be showcased at Accenture solution centers. In addition, more than 500 Accenture professionals will receive training on Vignette solutions.

"Companies who are serious about building online relationships with their customers will greatly benefit from the consulting strength of Accenture and the eBusiness application power of the Vignette software platform," said Greg Peters, president and CEO of Vignette. "Together we are uniquely qualified to help businesses become successful at building long-termand responsive relationships with their customers."
