QuiO Named Innovation Champion of the Accenture HealthTech Innovation Challenge
Finalists demonstrate ability to improve the way people access and manage healthcare
SAN FRANCISCO ; Jan. 10, 2017 – QuiO, a digital healthcare company providing smart injection devices and connected software for monitoring, engaging and supporting patients taking injectable therapies, has been named the inaugural Innovation Champion of the Accenture HealthTech Innovation Challenge, which brings together leading-edge startups with prominent health and life sciences organizations to tackle some of the world’s greatest healthcare challenges, including access, affordability and transparency. The award was announced at the StartUp Health Festival during the 35th Annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco.
QuiO, based out of New York City, has developed a real-time, wireless injection device and cloud platform for connected drug delivery devices. The company’s Smartinjector device platform is a fully-connected drug deliver solution, enabling remote monitoring of dosing events and injection performance without syncing or smartphone required. It’s Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)-compliant software includes secure web dashboards for monitoring and supporting patient populations remotely.
As part of Accenture’s HealthTech Innovation Challenge, more than 500 startups from around the world demonstrated how their innovative technology and business models help improve the way people access and manage healthcare. Finalists presented to an exclusive panel of 29 judges, comprised of senior executives from globally recognized health and life sciences organizations. As well as gaining access to these industry-leading companies as they seek to bring their ideas to market, the start-ups gained an opportunity to participate in StartUp Health’s Launchpad program.

CaptureProof was recognized as a Top Innovator at the Accenture HealthTech Innovation Challenge. Based out of San Francisco, CaptureProof provides a medical camera that aims to mitigate HIPAA privacy risk by providing a visual narrative by putting photos, videos, chat and sensor data directly in the hands of patients and their doctors to better enable more efficient care, communications and collaboration to monitor progress, assess in historical health context and decide on optimal healthcare approach. Meghan Conroy, chief executive officer and founder of CaptureProof said, “This designation shows that healthcare is ripe for disruption, and we are excited to be changing the face of healthcare.”
UE Life Sciences, Inc., also captured the Top Innovator designation. UE Life Sciences, based out of Philadelphia, designs and develops point-of-care, easy-to-use and affordable cancer detection tools for use in the developing world. It has created the iBreastExam, an FDA-approved, hand-held, battery powered, wireless mHealth solution for early detection of breast lesions for use by public and private health agencies. Matthew Campisi, chief technology officer and cofounder of UE Life Sciences, said, “This is more than just this designation, it’s about the future of healthcare and the changing paradigm of how we think about treating patients.”
