Italian Ministry of Interior Awards Accenture Contract to Maintain and Evolve Italian Voting System


ROME; Mar. 1, 2016 – The Italian Ministry of Interior has selected Accenture (NYSE: ACN) to provide IT services under a four-year contract. Accenture will provide application development and maintenance services to help the Ministry evolve the Italian voting system (Sistemi Informativi Elettorali - SIEL). The contract was secured following a competitive European Union wide public tendering process.

Accenture will provide digital support services to the Ministry during national, regional and municipal elections, and during national referendums. Accenture will also assist to build new application models (as instructed by the Ministry) for a new information system to be deployed during general elections in Italy.

Accenture has worked with the Ministry of Interior since 2012 and previously provided application development and IT maintenance services for the eAIRE project (Anagrafe Italiani Residenti all’estero), the national register for Italian citizens living overseas.
