Accenture Selected to Lead Clinical Integration Strategy for Vivity

Anthem Blue Cross Vivity Adds 13,000 Members in 2015, On Pace to Exceed Projections

LOS ANGELES; Oct. 1, 2015 – Accenture has been selected by Anthem Blue Cross (Anthem) and its seven hospital system joint venture partners to lead clinical integration strategy for these hospital systems and their aligned medical groups in the Vivity provider network.

This is a first-in-the-nation joint venture between a health plan and seven like-minded hospital systems that have aligned to enhance the health of all Anthem Blue Cross Vivity members and utilizes a unique provider reimbursement structure that includes shared savings from community risk pools.

The seven hospital systems – all with hospitals ranked in the top 30 in Los Angeles County by U.S. News & World Report – are Cedars-Sinai, Good Samaritan Hospital, Huntington Memorial Hospital, MemorialCare Health System, PIH Health, Torrance Memorial Medical Center and UCLA Health.

“It’s no secret that one of the lynchpins for the success of Vivity is successful integration of clinical data,” said Pam Kehaly, West Region president of Anthem. “We wanted to select a vendor with a track record of success, experience in the industry and the ability to deliver on this important project so we can provide members with a superior and seamless experience.”

Accenture has been tasked with defining a strategy and building a blueprint for achieving clinical integration across the seven hospital systems and their aligned medical groups that are in the Vivity network, helping reduce redundant information gathering and duplicative care. At the completion of Accenture’s strategy efforts, technological solutions will be selected to begin the work to implement clinical data integration.

“We are delighted Accenture has been selected to help break new ground in integrated care delivery excellence,” said Andrew Truscott, managing director of clinical services, Accenture. “We look forward to working with Anthem and the seven hospital systems to build a foundation for improving care coordination, patient engagement and outcomes.”

The work is expected to be completed by late Fall 2015.

Since its launch in late 2014, Vivity, which is available to large employers, has already gained 13,000 members, nearly reaching its goal of 15,000 members by the end of 2015. CalPERS, the country’s second largest purchaser of health benefits, was a Vivity customer at launch, with a variety of employers signing up since, including a restaurant group, school system and small businesses.
