Accenture Positioned as a Leader in U.S. Government Cloud Services, According to IDC MarketScape

ARLINGTON, VA; Jan. 13, 2014 – Accenture Federal Services has been positioned in an IDC MarketScape report as a “Leader” for the infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud services it provides to U.S. federal agencies.

The IDC MarketScape evaluated 12 vendors in the federal market as part of its “IDC MarketScape: U.S. Government Private Cloud IaaS 2014 Vendor Assessment1.” Accenture is recognized for a brokered services approach that supports federal agencies’ ability to build out cloud capabilities from legacy IT infrastructure systems. Additionally, the IDC MarketScape report notes that by using Accenture’s approach, government organizations can integrate with pre-approved, pre-certified public and private cloud providers and select from multiple deployment options based on recognized industry infrastructures, platforms and services.

The IDC MarketScape report assessed the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of each vendor and evaluated them based on a comprehensive framework and set of parameters expected to be most conducive to success in providing IaaS cloud services for U.S. federal entities.

“Accenture’s positioning in the IDC MarketScape recognizes our ability to bring leading commercial capabilities and models to help agencies achieve secure, affordable and agile cloud business solutions,” said David Moskovitz, chief executive, Accenture Federal Services. “With our cloud broker approach, our priority is to match individual client needs with the best available technology products and solutions.”

In naming Accenture as a “Leader,” the IDC MarketScape report highlighted that Accenture’s cloud-enabled operating model details the functions, processes, governance practices, roles and organizational approaches that are critical elements in determining the success of government transitions to cloud computing. The report also found that Accenture is able to quickly demonstrate system capability and operational results to government clients, while the company’s deep industry knowledge, ecosystem relationships and integration experience enable it to create differentiated solutions that address governments’ unique issues.

Accenture has committed to invest more than $400 million in cloud technologies, capabilities and training by 2015 to focus on delivering tailored cloud services from its network of providers, as well as blending its own industry solutions and innovations with third-party offerings. To date, Accenture has worked on more than 8,000 cloud computing projects for clients, including nearly 75 percent of the Fortune Global 100, and has more than 14,000 professionals trained in cloud computing.
