Accenture Recognised as Market Leader in Ovum Decision Matrix on Utilities IT-OT Integration
LONDON; Dec. 15, 2014 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has been positioned as a “market leader” in a new Ovum report titled, “Ovum Decision Matrix: Selecting an IT-OT integration partner, 2014-15,” which spans the global utilities industry.
The report focuses purely on global systems integrators with a strong heritage in the utilities industry. According to Ovum, these organisations have the breadth and depth to take on large-scale transformation projects. They also have extensive knowledge of major IT such as asset and network management systems, and they are experienced at managing change and data governance.
Ovum analysed vendors’ capabilities and experience across a number of criteria including IT-OT analytics, data integration skills, input into the development of industry standards, innovation, execution capability, partner ecosystem and IT-OT roadmap.
Accenture was positioned as market leader and scored highest across all three dimensions of execution, service assessment and market impact, based on its experience, industry knowledge gained through a broad portfolio of projects, assets and capabilities, and its ability to serve utilities in all major markets.
“The Ovum report reflects the strength and market leadership of Accenture’s IT-OT integration capabilities and our proven experience in helping utilities through the digital transformation of their business,” said Valentin de Miguel, global managing director, Accenture Smart Grid Services. “We continue to invest in our skills and assets in digital, analytics and grid operations, to help our clients with the challenges of simultaneously integrating the industrial internet of things and providing their customers with a reliable, affordable and an environmentally sustainable energy supply.”
In April this year, Accenture completed a new joint venture with Siemens, OMNETRIC Group, which combines an energy technology product portfolio with systems integration capabilities for improved end-to-end reliability and efficiency of the grid. These solutions integrate operational technologies with IT systems to help utilities address critical challenges of the smart grid, and embrace new opportunities and changing business models.
Stuart Ravens, principal analyst for energy and sustainability technology at Ovum, said, “Accenture continues to lead the utilities systems integration and consultancy markets. It boasts an enviable client roster through which it has developed deep experience across the value chain, and across all major geographies. It is no surprise that it scored the highest in all three dimensions of this decision matrix.”
Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, with more than 305,000 people serving clients in more than 120 countries.
