Accenture Ranks 9th on DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® List
NEW YORK; April 25, 2013 – Accenture has been named to the 2013 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list, rising to number 9, up from number 12 last year. This marks Accenture’s seventh consecutive year on the DiversityInc Top 50 list and its fifth consecutive year in the Top 25.
DiversityInc, the leading publication on diversity and business, annually recognizes companies that exemplify meaningful diversity management through their corporate practice. To qualify for the DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list, participating companies must have more than 1,000 employees and complete a detailed questionnaire about the company’s policies, diversity initiatives and workforce demographics.
"On the list for the seventh year in a row, Accenture moves into the top 10 for the first time. Under Chairman & CEO Pierre Nanterme, Chief Executive – United States and Senior Managing Director – North America Jorge Benitez and Inclusion & Diversity Managing Director Nellie Borrero, the company has been aggressively improving its talent-development efforts for under-represented groups. Both its mentoring and resource-group participation rates are double that of the DiversityInc Top 50 average," said DiversityInc CEO Luke Visconti.
According to DiversityInc, Accenture demonstrated strength in the four areas measured: CEO Commitment, Human Capital, Corporate and Organizational Communications and Supplier Diversity.
DiversityInc also included Accenture in three “Top 10” lists:
- No. 7 for Global Diversity
- No. 7 for Supplier Diversity
- No. 10 for Persons with Disabilities
“The recognition from DiversityInc confirms what we’ve long known: embracing and creating an authentically diverse culture is a powerful differentiator,” said Jorge Benitez, Chief Executive—United States and Senior Managing Director – North America Accenture. “By respecting each employee and recognizing and valuing individual similarities and differences, we create an environment that encourages all people to strive and achieve – and to help each other and their clients become high performers. This approach defines Accenture’s character and values.”
In particular, DiversityInc noted Accenture’s metrics-driven succession planning, training and education, mentoring and sponsorship programs and strong resource groups, as well as the company’s support for persons with disabilities and its supplier-diversity initiative.
“At Accenture, our people make up diverse global teams with a range of backgrounds and experiences,” said Nellie Borrero, managing director of Inclusion & Diversity at Accenture. “We operate under the widest view of diversity and commit to providing an inclusive, open environment for individuals with different backgrounds, lifestyles, needs and interests. It’s a part of our company’s core values.”
