Accenture Names Julie Spellman Sweet as General Counsel

NEW YORK; Jan. 26, 2010 — Accenture (NYSE: ACN) today announced that Julie Spellman Sweet will join the company as general counsel, secretary and chief compliance officer, effective March 22, 2010. She will report to William D. Green, Accenture chairman & CEO, and join the company’s Executive Leadership Team. Ms. Sweet, 43, comes to Accenture from the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, where she has been a partner in the firm’s Corporate department for the past 10 years.

Ms. Sweet will succeed Douglas G. Scrivner, who will step down as general counsel after serving in that role for 14 years. Mr. Scrivner will remain with Accenture to work with Mr. Green and will also help ensure a smooth transition for Ms. Sweet.

A well-regarded and dedicated attorney with significant international experience, Ms. Sweet joined Cravath in 1992 and became a partner in 2000. She has worked closely with dozens of public companies on a broad variety of matters at the board, CEO and general counsel levels on a global basis. She speaks Mandarin and has spent substantial time working in China, Europe and elsewhere in her professional career.

“We are delighted to welcome Julie to Accenture,” Mr. Green said. “She has a wide breadth of business and legal experience and is accustomed to working collaboratively and tirelessly to achieve the best outcomes. We look forward to her building on the strength of our global team of accomplished legal professionals and to benefiting from Julie’s sound judgment, proactive counsel and experience working with multinational companies on their most important issues.

“Doug Scrivner has been a real asset to Accenture in the general counsel role. His advice, guidance and ability to execute have been invaluable. He built our legal function from the ground up and put in place an outstanding legal team whose accomplishments are widely recognized in the profession and our industry. Julie and the team will work to raise our capability even further with our relentless focus on ‘high performance’ in all we do.”

Ms. Sweet received her undergraduate degree from Claremont McKenna College, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1989; she currently sits on the college’s Board of Trustees. She received her J.D. from Columbia University Law School, graduating as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar in 1992. Ms. Sweet was recognized as one of the “Dealmakers of the Year” for 2006 by The American Lawyer, was recognized in 2007 and 2008 by Lawdragon magazine as one of the top 500 leading lawyers in America, and was recognized in 2009 by The Legal 500 for her work in capital markets equity offerings.
