Accenture Receives Highest Possible Rating in Leading Analyst Firm’s Insurance P&C Claims Administration Systems Report

NEW YORK; June 11, 2009 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) today announced that its claims management system, the Accenture Claim Components Solution, has received a “Strong Positive” rating, the highest possible rating, in Gartner’s latest “MarketScope for North American Property & Casualty Insurance Claims Administration Systems.”[1]

Gartner’s MarketScope provides a comparative evaluation of claims administration systems that support the end-to-end claims administration transactions, based on five major criteria: market understanding, offering/product strategy, product and services, overall viability and customer experience.

“Given current economic conditions, insurance carriers are seeking innovative means to lower their costs, improve their claims processes and enhance customer loyalty and acquisition,” said Gilles Biscay, an Accenture senior executive and the company’s insurance solutions lead. “Software solutions are enablers of the changes that insurers have to make to pull away from the competition and selecting the right software is now more critical than ever.”

The Accenture Claim Components Solution is a Web-based technology solution designed to help insurers improve the efficiency of their claims-handling operations through the automation of routine tasks. Currently used by more than 65,000 claims handlers worldwide to process approximately 40 million insurance claims each year, the Accenture Claim Components Solution supports core claims transactions from first notice of loss through to financials and reserve management.

“In my opinion, the positive rating we received from Gartner further validates the track record of innovation and proven solutions that Accenture has brought to market for claims,” said Michael Costonis, managing director of Accenture’s Insurance practice in North America and global lead of the company’s claims services practice. “With an Accenture Claim Components Solution client reporting 32,000 users, we think the scalability of our claims administration solution is unmatched in the industry. From my perspective, Gartner’s rating reflects Accenture’s industry and claims management knowledge.”
