Accenture Completes Acquisition of MAXIM Systems, Inc., Defense Consulting Firm Specializing in Command and Control, Communications

RESTON, Va.; Dec. 12, 2007 -- Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has completed its acquisition of MAXIM Systems, Inc., an employee-owned defense consulting firm that provides advanced engineering and technical services in the areas of command and control, multi-level security and satellite communications. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

The acquisition expands Accenture’s Defense practice with the addition of San Diego-based MAXIM Systems’ capabilities in designing, developing, installing and supporting systems for C4ISR — which stands for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance — for military and intelligence agencies. C4ISR systems are used in battlefield activities such as joint command and control, which is the directing of personnel and equipment to accomplish missions.

“C4ISR is a key strategic growth area for Accenture,” said Eric Stange, managing director of Accenture’s U.S. Defense practice. “Our aim is to provide new levels of service and leading-edge practices that will enable the Department of Defense to equip our military with real-time resources and adapt proven commercial technologies to the battlefield.”

The transition of MAXIM Systems’ 135 employees to Accenture complements the company’s aggressive growth in the defense practice area. Coupled with Accenture’s recent acquisition of the George Group Consulting LLC and its recently announced plan to acquire Gestalt, LLC, Accenture and its subsidiary Accenture National Security Services LLC offer defense clients a robust and comprehensive suite of capabilities.
