U.S. Army and Accenture Team for Recruiting Program
SAN ANTONIO, TX; Jan. 9, 2006 – The Army today signed Accenture (NYSE: ACN) as the Army’s newest partner in its Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program. The Secretary of the Army, Dr. Francis J. Harvey, signed the formal partnership agreement with Accenture Chief Operating Officer Steve J. Rohleder in a special ceremony during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl activities here.
“We want to offer our soldiers every opportunity to achieve a lifetime of success, and working with partners like Accenture, who know the value of employing soldiers, gets us further toward that goal,” said Maj. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick, USAREC Commanding General.
PaYS is a strategic partnership program between the Army and a cross section of U.S. corporations and public sector agencies.
“We are proud to be enlisting in the U.S. Army’s PaYS program and to provide opportunities to qualified veterans who are transitioning into the private sector,” said Accenture COO Rohleder, who is responsible for managing Accenture’s global operations and is based in Austin, Texas. “We see our participation in PaYS as a natural extension of the professional relationship Accenture already has with the U.S. Army and we look forward to strengthening that relationship going forward.”
PaYS was developed to help the Army attract, train and deploy talented young people who want to not only serve their country, but also want to help secure their future success once their Army service is complete.
Under terms of the agreement between USAREC and Accenture, enlistees interested in gaining specific job training and qualifications will receive that training while in the U.S. Army. As part of the enlistment process, recruits sign a statement of understanding of intent to work for Accenture upon completion of their term of service. As they near the end of their enlistments, the soldiers will have the opportunity to interview with Accenture.
“Today more than 375,000 PaYS positions in 138 partner corporations and public sector agencies are available to qualified recruits,” Bostick said. “It’s a remarkable opportunity for our future soldiers and a testament to the benefits of the PaYS partnership program.”
