U.S. Air Force Awards New Financial System Contract to Accenture
WASHINGTON; March 27, 2006 – The U.S. Air Force has awarded Accenture a five-year, $79 million contract to design, build and operate its new Defense Enterprise Accounting Management System (DEAMS).
A partnership between the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Transportation Command and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service, DEAMS is one of two pilot programs designed to transform finance and accounting systems and deliver new processes to improve financial visibility.
DEAMS will be the first program to institute the Department of Defense’s new Standard Financial Information Structure which provides a comprehensive common business language that supports information and data requirements for budgeting, financial accounting, cost/performance management, and external reporting across the Department. DEAMS will also be the first program to create an enterprise support services function which supports a standardized, commercial-off-the-shelf implementation that is designed to minimize costs, enhance efficiency, and allow rapid incremental deployment to a multitude of Air Force and DOD locations.

Accenture will implement an Oracle e-Business Suite solution with help from major teammates IBM, Deloitte Consulting, Lockheed Martin and Grant Thornton.
