More Than 5,000 People Participate in Accenture-sponsored 2006 International Women’s Day Events

Accenture Hosts Events in 20 Cities Around the World

NEW YORK; March 8, 2006 – As part of its focus on building a diverse, inclusive workforce, Accenture celebrated International Women’s Day today with a series of celebrations in more than a dozen countries around the world. More than 5,000 Accenture people, clients and friends participated in today’s events.

Accenture’s International Women’s Day 2006 celebration was the company’s fifth and largest, featuring events in 20 locations across six continents in nine cities in the United States and in Bangalore, Beijing, Buenos Aires, Dublin, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, London, Manila, Paris, Sao Paulo, Sydney and Toronto.

The company’s objective for its 2006 program was to showcase the ways Accenture women influence and shape the business world. It also was intended to provide a venue for networking, building vital skills and addressing issues that women face in the workplace and beyond.

The program included day-long events in each location worldwide, as well as two global webcasts featuring discussions with Accenture leaders and leading global and local thought-leaders, including high-level business and government leaders, academics and noted authors.

Among some of the day’s highlights:

The goal of Accenture’s ongoing involvement in International Women’s Day is to provide a global forum that showcases the company’s initiatives addressing the issues that women face inside and outside the workplace. The effort brings together Accenture people and clients from around the world, along with other business leaders and academics, and demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to recruiting, retaining and advancing women.
