HOCHTIEF Outsources Procurement and Sourcing Processes to Accenture

ESSEN/KRONBERG, Germany; May 30, 2006 – HOCHTIEF, an international construction service provider, and Accenture have signed a five-year business process outsourcing agreement under which Accenture will manage HOCHTIEF’s sourcing and procurement function throughout Europe. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Under the agreement, Accenture will manage the purchase of all non-strategic goods and services not directly connected with HOCHTIEF’s construction operations, such as office equipment, printed products such as marketing brochures and business cards, safety critical items, personal computers and computer-related equipment, transportation and logistics services (such as courier services), skilled contract labour, training of procurement personnel and travel management. Accenture will provide a procurement platform as well as a procurement help desk capability.

This agreement marks a further advance in the close collaboration between Accenture and HOCHTIEF. “With Accenture’s experience and assistance, we expect to achieve lasting reductions in our purchasing costs,” said Dr. Martin Rohr of HOCHTIEF’s board. “This collaboration will not only enable us to focus on improving our procurement efficiency levels, but can also help position us for further growth."

“We look forward to supporting one of the world’s leading construction service providers in further optimizing its procurement processes,” said Norbert Kettner, a senior executive in Accenture’s Industrial Equipment practice. “HOCHTIEF is a prime example of a high-performance business and through this outsourcing agreement it should be able to focus more on core operations.”
