Alliance & Leicester Signs Contract with Accenture for Core-Banking IT Systems

LONDON; Oct. 2, 2006 – Alliance & Leicester plc, the seventh-largest UK bank, has signed a contract with Accenture to renew its core IT banking systems with Alnova Financial SolutionsTM (Alnova), an Accenture banking solution. Accenture will replace the bank’s key legacy systems with Alnova in a phased implementation over the next three years, covering retail current accounts and savings, personal loans, and commercial banking.

As part of the implementation, Accenture will also provide application development and maintenance services. The engagement represents the third Alnova implementation in the UK-Ireland market. Alnova is Accenture’s custom banking solution covering all aspects of universal banking in an integrated, browser-based environment that crosses multiple delivery channels.

Accenture is currently working with Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank to implement an image and workflow system to support customer service. According to the bank, the first phase, implemented earlier this year, has already made a significant contribution to improving efficiency and responsiveness to customer queries.

The new core banking system is one of a number of initiatives designed to deliver the bank’s strategy of being the UK’s leading direct bank and to achieve its strategic targets.
