Accenture Takes Nevada’s New Unified Tax System Live

System Designed to Provide Online Access to Taxpayer Accounts, Increase State Efficiency

CARSON CITY, Nev.; Jan. 9, 2006 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has launched the first phase of Nevada’s new Unified Tax System (UTS). Phase I includes the implementation of Accenture’s Tax Administration System (TAS) for core tax processes and online tax capabilities for management of taxpayer accounts over the Internet.

Performance statistics since the system went live several months ago already demonstrate significant increases in productivity for Nevada Department of Taxation employees. For example, productivity related to the entry of new business registrations has increased significantly since the new system was implemented. At the same time, over 3,000 Nevada businesses have registered to use the new internet capabilities to file and pay their taxes.

Nevada state officials expressed their satisfaction with the results to date. "In addition to the efficiencies of the new system, Accenture has also provided business process assessment services that have identified a number of outmoded processes designed around our legacy system that can be streamlined to capitalize on the capabilities of UTS," said Thomas Summers, Deputy Director, Administration.

“We’re pleased that the system is already delivering tangible benefits,” said C. Ann Rettie, managing director of Accenture’s Government Revenue practice. “State employees and businesses alike are seeing improvements in the way taxes are managed, processed and collected through the UTS. This translates into increased efficiency for the Department of Taxation and greater convenience for business and individuals in managing their tax affairs with the state.”

While still supporting Phase I, Accenture has already started development on Phase II, which includes the implementation of the sales tax component and the discovery data warehouse. Phase II is slated for release in mid-2006.
