BP Lingen to Outsource its Logistics Operations to Accenture

LINGEN/KRONBERG, Germany; May 9th, 2005 – Accenture has signed a multi-year agreement to provide BP Lingen’s refinery with logistics services in the areas of maintenance, repair and operations.

Under the agreement, Accenture will handle the logistics related to parts and services for the scheduled maintenance of the refinery’s machinery and facilities, as well as for emergency repairs, as needed. BP Lingen will become Accenture’s first customer for logistics outsourcing in Germany.

“We believe that Accenture will be able to help BP Lingen’s facility improve its logistics services while it focuses on its core refining activities.” said Stephan Scholtissek, Accenture’s country managing director for Germany.

In addition, Accenture will handle the refinery’s warehousing services and minimize its spare parts inventory to help BP Lingen reduce costs. Approximately 18 BP Lingen employees working at the company’s Lingen’s refinery are expected to join Accenture as part of the agreement.

“By gaining access to Accenture’s proven capabilities in logistics outsourcing, BP Lingen will be able to achieve significant cost savings while improving business processes in this area,” said Volker Woyke, a spokesperson for BP Lingen’s executive board.
