Accenture Wins NHS Contract to Deploy PACS Digital Image Management System
LONDON: Sept. 7, 2005 – Accenture today announced that the National Health Service (NHS) has awarded it a contract to deploy a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) in the North East and East Clusters.
PACS will allow images such as x-rays and scans to be stored and mailed electronically, rather than printed on film and filed or transferred manually from one hospital department to another.
As a result, authorized healthcare professionals will be able to capture and have access to digital images, and patients will receive diagnoses and treatment more quickly and efficiently. “This is an excellent example of how technology is helping to improve patient care by ensuring clinicians across the country have quick and easy access to patient x-rays and other digital scans,” said Ken Lacey, Accenture’s Health and Life Sciences Global Managing Partner.
Accenture will work closely with Agfa, the software supplier for PACS, to deliver these solutions successfully.
This contract extends Accenture’s work for Connecting for Health (CfH), the NHS’s long-term program to deliver an improved Integrated Care Record Service.
