Accenture Supports 2005 International Women's Day with Series of Events Celebrating Women in Business

NEW YORK; March 8, 2005 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) is marking International Women’s Day today with a series of coordinated activities in 20 cities around the world focused on women in business.

The objective of Accenture’s involvement in International Women’s Day is to provide a global forum that showcases the company’s initiatives addressing the issues facing women inside and outside the workplace. The effort brings together Accenture people and clients from around the world, along with other business leaders and academics, and demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to recruiting, retaining and advancing women.

Accenture expects more than 2,000 employees to participate in its International Women’s Day activities, which include leadership development sessions, career workshops and corporate citizenship events. The activities will be held across six continents — in eight cities in the United States and in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Spain, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Several other Accenture locations are also marking the day with activities on a smaller scale.

Among the many Accenture senior executives participating in the company’s International Women’s Day events are Chairman Joe Forehand and COO Steve Rohleder, who will be in Bangalore, India, where activities will include workshops on building effective networks and managing work/life balance. Gill Rider, Accenture’s chief leadership officer, and Kedrick Adkins, Accenture’s chief diversity officer, will be participating in London, where Accenture is hosting a panel discussion with business executives and academics. All told, dozens of Accenture executives, including nearly every member of Accenture’s executive leadership team, will be participating in the day’s events.

Accenture is also coordinating a webcast featuring stories from and about Accenture women worldwide. The webcast will run uninterrupted for 30 hours across 11 time zones and will be available to all Accenture employees via an Intranet connection.

"As a global company with more than 100,000 people in 48 countries, Accenture takes its responsibility to women very seriously, and we are pleased to host this important series of global events," said Bill Green, Accenture’s CEO. "Because we understand that women are critical to Accenture’s success, we aim to attract, retain and advance women by recognizing, fostering and maximizing their performance."

Gill Rider, Accenture’s chief leadership officer and global coordinator of the company’s International Women’s Day program, said, "Accenture is leveraging International Women’s Day to celebrate our people and to increase awareness of our women’s initiatives. We are providing a global forum through which our people will have the opportunity to connect and learn from one another, to develop and enhance their skills and to give back to their communities."
