Tele2 to Upgrade Its Pan-European Billing Systems With Accenture

STOCKHOLM; May 12, 2004 – Tele2, a leading pan-European telecommunications services provider, has hired Accenture to consolidate its billing system across 22 European countries.

Accenture, a leading global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, will help Tele2 deploy an integrated billing platform to reduce costs and gain the ability to launch new services more effectively.

“Telecommunications providers that operate in multiple countries often find themselves with complex systems that may be running on a variety of different platforms,” said Joakim Sjöman, a partner in Accenture’s Communications & High Tech operating group. “Today’s competitive telecommunications environment demands that providers have flexibility and speed to market, and this can only be done if their business and operations support systems, including billing, are performing at their most efficient.”

The project will involve replacing some of the Tele2’s existing billing systems, installing new systems and consolidating all of them into one centralized system. Accenture will be responsible for implementation, initial operation and support of the project.

Accenture will utilize the Accenture Communications Solutions, a set of pre-configured software applications and business processes that work seamlessly together to support operations that are critical to running a communications service business. These include customer care, sales, billing, provisioning, service delivery, enterprise management, business intelligence and Internet management applications.
