Systembolaget Chooses Accenture to Develop Intranet, Manage Web Applications
STOCKHOLM; Dec. 20, 2004 – Accenture today announced an agreement to help Systembolaget develop a new Intranet solution for delivery in April 2005. At the same time, Systembolaget will outsource the administration and further development of its Web applications to Accenture under a two-year contract.
In recent years, Systembolaget has implemented a strategic initiative centred around a Microsoft-based Web platform. A part of this strategy is the establishment of a new cost-efficient and flexible Intranet for the Systembolaget staff.
Under the agreement, Accenture will also help secure the future administration of all of Systembolaget’s Web applications. This includes elements such as wwww.systembolaget.se, a Web-based ordering system for Systembolaget products for use in sparsely populated areas, a system for creating labels in stores and an application for generating content for Systembolaget’s printed catalogue.
“The Systembolaget Intranet will be based on a portal architecture, which will allow us quickly to create a personally tailored interface for employees – an interface with content and functions that increase the efficiency of both communication and work processes,” says Anneli Samuelsson, a partner in the Retail and Consumer Goods practice at Accenture. “By outsourcing the administration and further development of its Web applications, Systembolaget can ensure the stability of its technology while simultaneously freeing up internal resources for its core business.”
”Accenture’s size and experience in the field of Application Management were important factors in our choice of partner. Their tried and tested methods and broad experience translate into stability and confidence within the project,” explains Johan Tömmervik, IT Manager at Systembolaget. “Accenture have displayed a clear sense of responsibility and have made demands on us in a professional manner, which is an important aspect of building up long-term business relationships,” he concludes.
