Accenture and Skila to Develop Knowledge Solutions for Pharmaceutical Product Launches

New York and Mahwah, New Jersey, August 7, 2001 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN), the world’s leading provider of management and technology consulting services and solutions, and Skila, Inc., the leading provider of Web-based global knowledge solutions for the business of healthcare, today announced an alliance to develop and market new knowledge solutions for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical products industries.

Together, Accenture and Skila aim to enhance time to market for new product launches by designing and creating a solution that supports collaboration and the capture and sharing of knowledge across project teams, functions and geographies.

“Increasingly, collaboration and the speed to capture, synthesize and share knowledge are becoming key differentiators among pharmaceutical companies,” said Scott Myers, partner in the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Products practice at Accenture. “With Skila’s technology, our knowledge solutions will help ease collaboration and the sharing of both explicit and implicit knowledge at these organizations. As a result, they will dramatically increase the effectiveness and speed of their new product launch activities.”

Accenture brings its deep skills in pharmaceutical business process and strategy, human performance, and technology to the alliance. Skila brings its knowledge services, healthcare industry expertise, and Intelligration™ technology for capturing and identifying, and visualizing the relationships between the intelligence and knowledge of experts, data, text documents and other critical information. Together, Skila and Accenture will create solutions designed to help new product launch teams incorporate collaboration – as well as the management and usage of internal and external information -- into their daily activities.

“Knowledge resides throughout silos in most pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device organizations, and the challenge lies in extracting and exchanging relevant intelligence across these silos and with external stakeholders,” added Moish Tov, chairman of Skila. “With Accenture, we will be able to help our client companies unlock the critical knowledge in their organizations.”
