Accenture and Click Commerce Team to Improve Speed and Ease of Managing Complex Distribution, Sales and Service Networks

New B2B eCommerce Global Alliance Focuses on "Sell-Side" Enterprise Channel Management

CHICAGO, May 25, 2000 -- Accenture today announced a global alliance with Click Commerce, Inc., a provider of Internet-based business-to-business (B2B) enterprise channel management software and services. The alliance will enable manufacturers to leverage the speed and ease of the Internet to manage complex distribution, sales and service networks.

Under the alliance agreement, Accenture and Click Commerce will jointly market comprehensive enterprise channel management software and services in specific industries. By teaming Click Commerce’s "sell-side" B2B software with Accenture ’s global reach and established client network, the two organizations aim to capitalize on the growing B2B marketplace.

Accenture Technology Ventures, the venture capital unit of Accenture , has purchased an equity stake in Click Commerce.

Click Commerce’s software enables an enterprise to create a secure, tailored Internet site — an "extranet" — that connects all of its dealers, service centers, retailers, sub-dealers and aftermarket service providers to facilitate sales, marketing and services. Extranets permit faster and more accurate access to real-time information concerning the enterprises’ products and services and eliminate today’s inefficiencies in fax, phone and other communication methods. Ultimately, this helps the enterprise deepen its relationships with its channel partners and provides it with a new, unencumbered view of its entire demand chain.

"Joining forces with Click Commerce enhances Accenture ’s ability to serve clients and demonstrates our commitment to being the world’s pre-eminent B2B solutions provider," said Roy K. Phelan, Accenture partner responsible for the firm’s alliance with Click Commerce. "Working together, we can help companies convert channel management from a cost to an asset by enabling them to work with -- rather than around -- their existing network of channel partners."

Click Commerce chose to work with Accenture to build scale and market share faster than it could have alone, according to Randy A. Gray, Executive Vice President, Business Development at Click Commerce. Gray believes that Accenture and Click Commerce can together simplify processes, bring new efficiencies to enterprises, and enter new markets and industries around the globe.
