Accenture and BP Announce $100-Million Expansion of Outsourcing Agreement in United States

Houston, December 5, 2000 -- Accenture and BP announced today a $100 million expansion of their current outsourcing agreement to provide financial and administrative (F&A) services, for the former Arco U.S. downstream refining and marketing operations. These F&A functions, include Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Service Station Accounting/Retail and General Accounting, and will be provided by Accenture’s Senergy Business Center (SBC) in Houston beginning in January, 2001.

This expanded relationship between BP and Accenture builds on the January 2000 announcement of a $200-million agreement to provide F&A services, the largest contract of its type ever signed in the downstream energy sector. These agreements reinforce how essential outsourcing has become to newly consolidated energy companies. They also emphasize Accenture’s significant role in providing F&A support to the North American downstream energy industry.

Alan Eilles Downstream CFO, BP said, "Accenture continues to provide exceptional F&A support and has delivered results beyond our expectations. As we continue to look for ways to increase customer value at BP, Accenture will be an integral part of our future."

"BP’s decision to expand our strategic relationship will enhance our ability to improve efficiency and increase business productivity in their U.S. downstream operations," said Joe Getto, a partner with Accenture’s Energy practice. "We look forward to working with BP to discover new ways to leverage e- commerce to deliver outstanding customer value."

The agreement, will grow Accenture’s Senergy Business Center to nearly 350 financial personnel. In addition Accenture has 200 personnel in Houston providing information technology outsourcing for several leading Energy companies.
